Open Session of the European Commission for the Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease
The 2014 Open Session theme is “Where science and policy meet: FMD risk management in a world of changing disease landscapes". It will be held from 29th to 31st of October 2014 in Cavtat, Croatia.
The Open Session of the European Commission for the control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD) is organized every two years. It has become the largest technical and scientific meeting on FMD to be held on a regular basis. Over 200 participants were present at the most recent Session 2012 in Jerez de la Frontera, following the ones held in 2010 in Vienna, and 2008 in Erice, Sicily.
The 2014 Open Session has two parts:
- an Open Session of the Standing Technical Committee – it aims to consider invited papers on topics of high importance for FMD control policy in free countries;
- an Open Session of the Special Committee on Research which welcomes submitted papers relevant to progressive FMD control in endemic and at risk regions. Observers working in any area of FMD science or FMD management are welcome to attend.
New deadline to present a paper at the EuFMD Open Session 2014: please follow the guidelines and submit your paper by 15th July 2014. All papers will be reviewed and you will be informed if it has been accepted as a paper or a poster, by the 5 September 2014.
