Strengthening EU-China Cooperation in the laboratory science: Establishment of the Joint Laboratory of Veterinary Microbiology by LinkTADs partners

September 2014 was marked by an important achievement of the LinkTADs project, as the Joint Laboratory of Veterinary Microbiology was established by Harbin Veterinary Research Institute (HVRI), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), and the National Veterinary Institute of Sweden (SVA). The Laboratory was established according to the Task 4.3 of the LinkTADs Work Plan.

The aim of the Joint Laboratory is:

  • to enhance the control and the diagnostic capabilities of research institutions and
  • to increase the knowledge on infectious animal diseases.

This will be done with the help of enhanced research collaborations on selected topics and joint project applications submitted by Chinese and Swedish/EU researchers. In addition, exchange of personnel is planned coupled with the information exchange on diseases and protocols for diagnostic assays.

The Joint Laboratory will serve as the platform to enhance the links between China and EU/Sweden, and improve the research on animal diseases.
